As a science graduate
from a Chinese university, It did not take me long to realize that
communication was my biggest hurdle I have to clear in order to climb
the corporate ladder at any acceptable pace. There
were no Toastmasters Clubs in Penang state in 1980 . The
Butterworth Toastmasters Club was actually conceived and formed in my
office in Prai with the help and encouragements from Ismail Noor, then a
committed Toastmaster from Kuala Lumpur and a management trainer engaged
by the company I worked for. Since then
Toastmasters became a way of life for me. It has helped me in my
career advancement, enabling me to secure enviable positions in the three
multinational companies I worked for. And when I eventually decide to
start my own company, Toastmasters skills came in handy in terms of
networking skills, and leadership skills. Toastmasters
helped me in my presentation skills, improve my ability to communicate ,
especially in English and the interpersonal skills I needed to
effectively network.
For 28 years , Toastmasters continue to enrich my life. I would
recommend anyone who wish to get the best out of their lives , to join
Toastmasters. |
